Just Along for the Ride

August 15, 2023

Today is as crazy as it gets!

Is this real life?

7:45am- Alarm goes off, in a hazy daze, I realize I need to get up and get going because it's my first day back to work. No, I didn't plan to work this next school year, but nothing in my life is going quit the way I planned so back to work I go!

8:00am- Painters arrive and let themselves in. It's been nearly a year of trying to get our old house back in shape and we worked hard to ensure the bedrooms finally got the love they needed so we could create a sanctuary like environment for Ty and our family as we do the impossible cancer journey once again. It's been kinda funny, as they've been in our house for the past two weeks and have heard all the craziness that goes on behind the scenes in our family.

8:30am- My brother texts that traffic in LA was worse than he thought it would be at 5:30am so his arrival time to our house will be 9am. I am relieved and full of gratitude that my brother decided to take the day off work and drive up to help us today. We need all the help we can get right now.

9:00am-Drive to UCSB where I try my best to get my head back in the game and show up for the student teachers I'll be working with this next school year.

You'll have to Press Play on the video below if you want to hear the gist of the rest of my day, but it's now about 4pm and I've been sitting alongside my Ty at the Ridley Tree Cancer Center all afternoon. He sits in a comfortable chair that overlooks a beautiful garden and towering trees and has already made the oncology nurses laugh with his jokes. So far, he's handled the two different types of chemotherapy infusions like a true champion and we continue praying that his body and mind stay strong and sharp for the remainder of his treatment.

***Note: I have never posted a video on here before so I'm not even sure I did it correctly! I sure look funny in the frozen frame I'm seeing though~!

Your honesty and strength at this tumultuous time of your life has validated my feelings, that you are the role model to so many friends, family and strangers who are lucky enough to know you, or read your Blogs. You are amazing.
